Report: Sharpie Liquid Pencil Let Me Down.

This tool did not hold true to the magic of sharpie. I am sadly let down. Don't buy one unless you just absolutely need to be let down too... or maybe if you need a waxy clumpy sub par writing implement.

It's not Monday but here's a Monday track

This is from beat.imprint compadre dj goose- a fun mix/mashup to groove with. I particularly love the cash. Johnny Cash.

Hear it, dig it.

Salem, Minstrelsy, and Me.

OK- so I really dig the new album from Salem called king night. And
yeah, it's one of the things called witch house- what a fucking bad
genre name.
it sounds like shoegaze noise stuff but noisier, mixed with dirrrrty
south snare fills annd houston chopped & screwed vocals. OK- that is
almost like a magic formula to make me happy.

Now the part I've been thinking about is this: one writer called their
use of screw-type shit as "minstrelsy" which is saying that they might
as well be putting on blackface?

that actually offends me a bit: in an age of genre hopping and all,
can anyone really actually say that? Puff Daddy recycling Biggie to
make a buck is more minstrelsy than anything: he's just tap dancing
for the labels and the money machine? Or is he paying homage to a friend?
I digress...

EVERYONE pulls from hip hop and black music. All parts of it.
Timberlake? Color me Badd? Seriously: can anything new these days be called minstrelsy? I don't suspect Salem would fit the bill: they took lots of drugs and pulled all flavors of DRUG music together. They like lene, screw heads like
lene, well- that seems more obvious than assuming a racial jab or
slight. or a gimmick even. I don't know, the comment just didn't sit
right with me- especially when written by someone who should be more
informed in their musical history. (rock & roll came from boogie & blues came from slaves etc) so unless they meant it to offend- misnomer. I think hes just not feeling the screw. Well, I'm from Texas, and we like things slow.

Hmmm. I hate the fact that I like them: apparently they're dicks,
etc... maybe even the flavor of the month. but the album is good. Daaaaaaaaaam.

here's a track. a remix to start. Gucci Mane - Bird Flu (SALEM remix). daaaaaaaam dirrrrty.

And now one of theirs: Asia, from the new album King Night. Get It.

and now that you (may have) heard those two: one of the controversial (hah hah) screw influenced bass heavy tracks (that I love) called trapdoor. thanks youtube!

OKay. I'll let you all fight it out... I like it a lot.

Hidden Orchestra: Night Walks

Just ran across this release today, really like it click the player to listen & pick it up from our friends @ Dancetracksdigital.com

illpainkilleraudiomix - skza from the past

This mix is my old life, my old self- sludgy druggy and out there. I still love the sounds here, noisy, hittin strange times, and generally just not right. Like the kind of sounds you listen to and say "bless their hearts, they can't help it" or something similar. I love it. I love it. gimme grit grime and bass. I don't have a premium soundcloud to give you an embedded player so you have to follow the link but it's a free download, a free mix of late nights that should be forgotten.

Download it Here!

enjoy, have a good weekend!

Flying Lotus does not ever stop. Ever. Proof?

The New EP- Pattern + Grid World. This one tones things down a bit from Cosmogramma- it reigns things in to a track to track manageable format. It is great- another side and representation of what mr. ellison is doing these days apart from resting, sleeping, or eating. I would assume all he does is make music, because it keeps coming. I like that.
