TEEEL for SXSW!!!!

OK with it having been such a tumultuous year, i've been listening to a lot of music, posting about none of it. I was happy to hear that TEEEL were playing SXSW (and the CVRRENTS party) because Amulet was one of my favorite albums while driving back and forth across the unreasonably huge state of Texas this summer. From his webpage

Writing in a 10×10 teal painted room, stacked with vintage synthesizers and guitars, TEEEL creates music that ranges from hypnotic synthpop to dreamy disco and dark electronica. Running Synthemesc Records, producing a wide range of music, performing in bands and DJing for over 10 years, he has honed his craft and continues to push forward.

The synth bass and Italo/Electro beats situated this exactly in the realm of synth-pop (chill wave?) that I feel most comfortable with, most held by. It references much music before, but takes it farther, owing as much to modern production and electronic dance music as this self-professed gear head's his historical influences. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

AMULET (Available as Digital Download and Cassette)

As of Feb 22 he has a new album University Heights- it feels a bit heavier in tone. the bass keeps moving nicely and there is a more present guitar. the darker edge suits the voice.

Check it out, and buy it. Support this guy.

Ok I admit it, I am a fan. I'm ready to see the show.
